Etiology of Learning Disability

Research shows that the causes of learning disability are more diverse and complex and do not stem from a single, specific are of brain, but from difficulties in bringing together information from various brain regions. The following factors may contribute to the causes of learning disability:

  •  Genetic Factors
  •  Errors in fetal brain dovelopment
  •  Tobacco, alcohol and other drug use
  •  Problems during pregnancy or delivery
  •  Poor nutrition
  •  Toxins in the child's environment

Assessment of Learning disability

There are different specialized tests that are used to assess Learning Disability. The assessment can be made only by a clinical psychologists and special educators registered with RCI.

Assessment includes:
  •  IQ assessment
  •  Assessment of academic functioning
  •  Assessment of Emotional and behaviour problems
